The Nervous System

The Nervous System

The nervous system, while being amazingly complex, is comprised of three main parts: the brain, the spinal cord, and the peripheral nerves. These parts correlate to the supernal (heavenly) makeup of Yahweh, being the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The brain is a greyish white mass and correlates to the phenomenal (visionary) cloud which abode between the wings of the cherubim above the mercy seat in the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle. This cloud symbolizes Yahweh in his abstract state, without a particular shape and form (pure spirit). The brain itself has three main parts: fore, mid and hindbrain, or the cerebrum, the cerebellum and the medulla oblongata. The children of Israel were led by the cloud as they migrated from Egypt to Canaan Land. When the cloud lifted above the tabernacle, they disassembled the structure and followed the cloud until it settled at a new location where they reassembled it and the priests resumed their daily ministrations. The brain is the command center of the body and it controls all the functions and activities within the body. The two primary functions of the brain are motor (action) and sensory (messages). These line up with the archangels on top of the mercy seat, being Michael, the warrior (action) and Gabriel, the messenger. Their wings touch just as the corpus callosum bridges the two hemispheres of the human brain. The brain and spinal cord are in part protected by the cerebrospinal fluid, the purest fluid in the body. This lines up with “. . . a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal proceeding out of the throne of Yahweh . . .” referred to in Rev. 22:1.

There are 12 pairs (24 total) of cranial nerves that connect the brain primarily with parts of the head. These correlate with the 24 elders gathered up around the throne of Yahweh (Rev. 4:4) The ark of the covenant is like a throne where Yahweh dwelt (Lev. 11:2). The Vagus nerve (wanderer or fugitive) goes from the brain to the gut track and this illustrates Satan (that fugitive from heaven) being cast out of heaven down to earth (the Court Around About). The arbor vitae part of the brain (Tree of Life) correlates with the tree of life described in Rev. 22:2.

There are 31 pairs (62 total) of peripheral nerves and one single nerve (total of 63 nerves) connecting the spinal cord with various parts of the body. This correlates perfectly with the 63 righteous generations from Adam to Yahshua the Messiah (Luke 3:23-38). The neuron is the basic nerve cell and it is an axon, cell body and dendrite. Information is transmitted from one neuron to the next at a rate of up to 200 miles per hour or 6 feet in 1/50th of a second, proving that Yahweh is a quickening spirit (1 Cor. 15:45).

The eyes are the most important sense organs which allow us to function in the world. The visual information they receive forms a single image in the brain. “If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” (Matt. 6:22). The eyes are like the law and the prophets, both testifying of the same thing, that is the Messiah to come. “and their eyes were opened.” (Matt. 9:30). This is a metaphor meaning that they understood. Anatomically the lens, the vitreous humor and the fovea work together to produce a reverse image which is transmitted to the brain via the optic nerve. It is in the brain that the image is restored to its proper orientation. This illustrates the principle that we see things naturally, and then they are transformed by the spirit (up righted) so that we can understand the divine significance.

The ear has 3 main parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear, all working together as a single unit. The middle ear has 3 bones that amplify sound, namely the hammer, the anvil and the stirrup. The mechanical vibration is then transformed to an electrical impulse which is carried to the brain to be registered and interpreted. Rev. 13-9 states, “If any man hath an ear, let him hear.” This is another metaphorical statement equating hearing with understanding.
